At Michael Kors, return of the rich hippie

Michael Kors has the best one-liners in all of fashiondom to describe his inspirations. This season's? "Big Sur, Big City."

The combination amounted to a terrific collection of haute slouch wear, including a tie-dye mink coat, and cashmere sweat pants that had us California dreamin' on a winter's day.

Kors brought back the peasant blouse, that rich hippie staple, in white silk georgette, pairing it with an ultra-luxe gray broadtail fur peasant skirt that had to be seen to believed. He also showed shimmering one-sleeve peasant dresses in metallic fil coupé that were glorious.

The new suit had culottes on the bottom and a relaxed belted jacket on top. And skirt hemlines were long, anchored by rugged clogs or sandals on the feet.

Kors is a master at chunky knits, and this season's show piece was an ombre Aran pullover worn over a chocolate suede fringe skirt.

The fringe was also flying on handbags, a suede coat and a sequin skirt that was earth mama-meets-flapper.

But as earthy as the collection was, there were a lot of remarkably fine details, such as the spotted feathers sewn onto a charming gray flannel fit 'n' flare dress, and the tiny leather flowers dotting a circle skirt.

Another collection to add to his hit parade.

The secret plans Rosie Huntington-Whiteley can't wait for

It's no surprise that interviews with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are cropping up at this time of year. As the face and designer of the Rosie for Autograph M&S lingerie line, Valentine's Day is one of the biggest gigs for her brand.

But rather than her new silky briefs, it's future plans that the Devon-born beauty has on the brain. There are "a few things in my personal life that are very exciting that I probably can't elaborate on," Huntington-Whiteley tells Style, before adding, "And very exciting work things."

Is an engagement to Jason Statham on the cards for the 26-year-old? From the way the model gushes of her partner it wouldn't come as a surprise. "We really are a team, we are deeply connected. We are best mates and it's a beautiful thing. I feel truly lucky," the Devon-born beauty enthuses.

Wretch all you like over the fact their "special and sacred" relationship is bolstered by the fact he is a Leo and she is an Aries, but it's no surprise the model is openly positive about her relationship after the press reported the couple had hit a turbulent patch back in 2013.

When asked about building a family with actor Statham, the M&S model-turned-designer affirmed: "I look forward to the many things that come with being a woman, having children, all of that."

Don't expect to see the model shift her life back to her native Devon with her future brood though. "I like the quiet life here," she says of LA, before shunning the glitzy award ceremonies that Hollywood's inhabitants frequent on a weekly basis.

"You're standing there being shouted at by 200 photographers. It's uncontrolled and daunting. I never feel relaxed," she says, before admitting, "I look forward to my thirties and feeling a bit more confident about myself."

But with new film Mad Max: Fury Road out in 2015 she's going to have to embrace the limelight again soon. Whether proudly showing off a baby bump then, or not.

Los Angeles Backyard Wedding

Having been to a lot of their friend’s weddings, Misti and Asaf always enjoyed the more casual celebrations the most. So for their own in October, they wanted it to be similarly laid back and full of personal touches. They held the wedding in their own house, which they remodelled especially for the event. This added to the no pressure party atmosphere and kept the day small and intimate.

“We own a Craftsman house built in 1905″, wrote the bride, ” and we only moved in a week before our wedding! My husband is a designer and builder. We planned a 10 week remodelling before the wedding. There was a ton of work done on the house. Some of the work included: completely remodelling the kitchen, putting in new hardwood floors, new landscaping, and painting the house inside and out.”

“My family and some awesome Midwesterners showed up early in the week to help us unpack and get ready for the wedding. When they showed up, we did not even have a kitchen sink. During our rehearsal dinner, our front yard fence was being built. On the Saturday of the wedding, a friend put on the house numbers a few hours before our guests began arriving. By the time the ceremony started, the house was completely transformed into a beautiful home and wedding.”

“The whole thing was a real communal project. We did some typical DIY wedding things like make seed bombs for wedding favors and putting together gift bags for out of town guests and kids. However, most of the real DIY stuff for our was related to remodelling. Having the wedding in our home made it amazingly special. As we look out into our backyard, we can see where we took our vows and celebrated with friends and family. In a way, it makes our wedding part of our everyday lives.”
